A Bordeaux bottle (Our W5) has pronounced shoulders at the bottom of the neck. A Burgundy style (Our W6) has a less pronounced shoulder to it. A Hock style (Our W13 or W82) is usually long and thin, with the neck gradually sloping into the body.
A punted bottle (Our W65) has an inward indentation at the base of the bottle. They are typically a heavier weight bottle. It is created strictly for looks.
When glass manufacturers change their tanks from one color to another, the bottles that are produced between the "true" colors are called transition glass. The quality of the glass stays the same.
A straight cork has a definite edge to both sides. The chamfered corks edges are beveled, creating a smoother rounded edge. Chamfered styles are used almost always for hand corker and smaller quantities, as they seem to have an easier insertion application. Both styles provide the same seal.
All of these styles have one thing in common- they take a metal cap to seal them. CT (or continuous thread) is a preformed metal cap. It can be manually screwed onto the bottle, or placed with a machine. An ROPP(Roll On Pilfer Proof, also called RO) requires machinery that forms the threads and attaches it to the bottle. Our newest line is Stelvin caps. This is a metal ROPP closure that is longer in length than standard caps. It can only be placed on your bottle with a machine.
Pallets are stacked depending on bottle type. The majority are at 112, 105 or 98. A full truckload is usually between 24-30 pallets. . Trailer length, the weight of the glass, and how pallets are loaded onto the truck are all factors that affect the number of pallets allowed in a trailer.
A lift gate is used by freight companies when there is no loading dock or employees available to unload your delivery. Fee varies by freight company.
